Websites and brand strategy for independent breweries

Brewery websites that actually do their job.

I build, fix, and run websites and email marketing for independent breweries. I've designed for the web since 2001, and I co-own a Vermont brewery, so I know what your taproom crowd and your distributor rep are each looking for.

What I look at

Your website has six jobs. Most sites do two.

Every audit and every build starts from the same six areas. When one is missing, it shows up as quiet weeknights or a buyer who never calls back. Score yours as you read.

01

Get found

Search, current hours, a map, and a where-to-buy page that reflects what's actually on shelves.

02

Fill the taproom

Events, what's on tap, and a reason to come in this week, not someday.

03

Fast and legible

Loads quickly and reads cleanly on a phone with one bar of signal in your parking lot.

04

Keep people moving

A specific next step on every page. "Learn more" doesn't count.

05

Capture the relationship

An email signup with a real reason to join. You own the list. You rent the algorithm.

06

Serve the trade

A page for distributor reps, bottle shop buyers, and bar managers. Almost no brewery has one.

Score your site

0 / 12

Thirty seconds, from memory. 0 is missing, 1 is there but weak, 2 is working.

  • Capture the relationship
  • Serve the trade

I run a brewery website, too.

I'm co-owner and Brand Director at Ten Bends Beer in Hyde Park, Vermont. Our beer goes out across Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Virginia, and DC, so I think about distributor reps and bottle shop buyers as much as the taproom.

Ten Bends is where I test what I recommend: the website, the email program, and the sell sheets our reps carry. If it doesn't work for us, I won't sell it to you.

Why work with me

No agency layers. One person who answers the phone.

I speak brewery

Core lineup versus seasonal rotation, taproom versus wholesale, why your trade page matters more than your About page. You won't have to explain it.

Any platform

WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, WooCommerce, Square, Webflow. I'll work with what you have, or recommend what fits your team.

On the web since 2001

Two decades building platforms for financial institutions and travel and tourism agencies before I brought it to breweries.

Let's look at your site together.

Thirty minutes, your site on screen, and an honest read on what to fix first. No pitch deck.
